My name is David Anthony Malone & I am a Project & Program Manager. Over the last twenty years I have delivered many projects for vendors & clients including large transformation programs, numerous software delivery projects & numerous specific finance based projects in many different industries.
For the last while now I’ve been thinking to myself and asking the question – What skills are key for project managers in todays pressurised working environment?
I started to think about all the projects I have delivered and all the project & program managers I have worked with. I then slowly started to build up a list of 100 skills, a mix of soft and hard that I have noticed project managers use over the time I have been working in the industry. Not all the skills are necessary in any one particular project but they are a valuable set of skills to have in your pocket at any given time.
Over the next few weeks I will start to release these skills via a weekly blog until I manage to complete the full list. The blog will form part of my new website titled projectempire.ie. Other pieces will be released on the blog that explore many different facets of project management.
I hope you find the blog interesting and useful in your projects and any comments and feedback are always welcome. The website will act as a consultancy, advisory & project information repository for all budding project managers out there and existing ones too. I will write about & inform it’s readers on many different facets & areas of project management.
Having worked in the industry for a long time now I appreciate all projects are different and what all project managers experience is different when delivering projects. That’s what makes project management so unique and interesting as it is not standard across companies and projects can be delivered in many different ways.
The first blog will be released later today at 6pm and I hope you enjoy it and the rest going forward.
Thanks for reading!
